Supporting Artists Beyond the Spotlight: Thoughts of a Music Industry Coach

A few weeks ago during the ACM awards, Lauren Alaina shared a raw, honest video on social media about feeling left out not attending the show and feeling like she was being left behind in chasing her dream. It’s been on my mind for weeks.
She’s talented.
She’s accomplished.
And her honesty cracked open a conversation so many of us have had in our own heads.
After her video, the post was flooded with comments from music industry colleagues, artists, and fans alike who all connected with her experience. People who from the outside seem to have “made it”, but still hear the quiet questioning... “Am I doing enough? Why wasn’t I included? Am I still relevant? What am I missing?”
We have ALL been there. Not signing the client. Not getting the job. Not winning. And here’s a truth no one had said out loud until Lauren’s video: even the people we look up to are still navigating the same (sometimes rocky) inner landscape.
This is the part I want to highlight for the sake of connection. We work in an industry built on the idea that art creates community, and yet so many artists, teams, and creatives are quietly carrying the weight of disconnection.
As a coach, this is where work can begin.
In the space between what’s seen and what’s felt.
In the gap between recognition and real connection.
In helping people name what is true before the burn out trying to chase what isn’t.
If you are feeling a little off or left out lately, you are not alone. And you don’t have to stay there.
Whether you are on the road, behind the scenes, or building your business, I’m always just a message away and happy to provide support.
